Description PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB : Maintain the appearance and condition of property sites and landscape to highest level. LEVEL OF AUTHORITY : Receives close to moderate supervision from Site Manager, direction may also be given by Assistant Landscape Superintendents, and Landscape Superintendent. Expected to perform routine assignments as employee gains work experience. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hand saws, hedge and brush trimmers and picks/axes. Operate powered equipment such as push mowers, edgers, blowers, and hedgetrimmers. Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges using shears, pruners, and trimmers. Trim and pick flowers and clean flower beds. Water lawns, trees and plants using portable sprinklers, hoses, or watering cans. Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots. Rake, mulch and compost leaves and debris. Hand weeding. Participate in annual planting for fall and spring by cultivating and digging. Follow all safety policies and guidelines as directed by supervisors and the company. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic. Standing & working on smooth and uneven surfaces 90% of your shift. Repetitive lifting on certain task with weights of 1-50lbs, not to exceed the 50lb limit. Supporting of equipment on your back (back pack blower 21.5lbs) at least 3 hrs a day. Bending over for prolonged periods of time on certain tasks (planting, weeding, soil preparation). Some activities may require walking and pushing of equipment for extended length and time. Certain task may involve holding equipment above shoulder height for prolonged periods (tree, shrub, and hedge trimming). Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Ability to load/unload burlaps with grass & plant cuttings (up to 50lbs). Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the day. Able to work in extreme weather conditions. Ability to use hand tools (shovels, rakes, etc) for extended periods. Qualifications Must be 18 years old and able to follow verbal and written instructions. Able to work effectively with individuals of differing knowledge and background. Punctual, and have dependable transportation.
