team and role: The Global Focus Categories (GFC) is a multi-billion
dollar global portfolio comprising Fashion, Collectibles, Vehicles,
Parts & Accessories, and more. These categories are key investment
areas for eBay, with unique market contexts and vertical-specific
drivers to unlock growth. We are looking to hire a Principal of GFC
Product Strategy , located in San Jose, CA, who will support the
Focus Categories leadership team and play an instrumental role in
accelerating growth across our portfolio of assets. The role will
be at the forefront of shaping and driving strategy, while ensuring
operational excellence in product planning, and collaboration
across a broad cross-functional team in the development of our key
priorities and product roadmap. This individual is expected to
embed with key members of the Focus Categories product leadership
team to understand, explain, and influence their key strategic
initiatives, while also keeping in mind the broader portfolio and
driving horizontal synergies where relevant. This person will own
strategic projects focused on new growth and efficiency-driving
efforts supporting the GFC portfolio, including but not limited to
horizontal product experiences and services, inorganic levers, and
AI transformation of how we work as a team. End-to-end ownership
will entail evaluation and business case development, project
management, incubation through delivery. Key partners include GFC
business strategy, engineering, marketing, analytics, finance, and
corporate development, among many others, who span across the US,
Europe, and Asia. The role demands a dual mentality: Strategic
Leader: Must have a deep understanding of the dynamics of two-sided
marketplaces, break down tough problems into clear frameworks,
operate in ambiguity, and possess strong data intuition and
executive-ready communications. Embedded Operator: Must move
quickly and decisively, and not be afraid to get their hands dirty.
What you will accomplish: Serve as strategic thought leader to the
Global Focus Categories product and business leadership teams.
Influence roadmap development across the portfolio, and support the
successful delivery of outcomes. Deep dive on ad hoc strategic
topics in the portfolio, ranging from diagnosis to execution. Build
and own executive-ready presentations on strategic projects
Identify opportunities for operational consistency and efficiency
and alignment across the portfolio. What you will bring: Track
record of strategic leadership, structured thinking, and ability to
prioritize against multiple initiatives. Strong cross-functional
leader with demonstrated ability to project manage a group of peers
and lead through influence. Executive-level verbal and written
communication skills, including the ability to tell a clear and
compelling narrative backed by data. High degree of ownership and
commitment to results. Self-motivated to identify opportunities and
challenges in the business. Data-driven approach to planning and
decision making. Comfortable and hands-on with data, analytics, and
modeling. Ambition to grow professionally and willingness to work
hard, learn/adapt, and provide feedback both upward and to peer
teams. An experienced people leader with the ability to modulate to
their team’s needs. 10 years of related experience, including 4
years at a top-tier management consulting firm or a major
corporation in a product, product strategy, or business strategy &
operations role. Industry experience in consumer goods, retail,
e-commerce, or consumer tech 2 years of people leadership
experience, across junior and more tenured ICs (manager level)
BA/BS required, MBA or similar graduate degree highly preferred
Geography / travel Ability to be present at the San Jose eBay
office 3 days/week Ability to travel occasionally to other
US/global locations as needed Additional Details The base pay range
for this position is expected in the range below: $178,800 -
$238,700 Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple
individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.
The total compensation package for this position may also include
other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units
(as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial,
and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various
paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of
participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an
employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will
