The job requires meeting individual sales goals and, as part of the sales team, contributing to the overall sales growth of Black Diamond Paving & Concrete. You'll need to be out in the field, meeting customers and prospects and helping our crew leaders on the jobsite meet project goals.You'll need a consultative sales approach to help our property manager customers solve their pavement challenges within their budgetary constraints.You'll need to understand and easily converse in pavement maintenance language, explaining options to customers and helping them feel comfortable with the choices they make.You'll need to develop and personally present proposals, whether in one-on-one sales meetings, to an HOA board, or even hosting "lunch-and-learns" for customers.This is not a job that can be done from behind a desk, so if that's where you like to spend your time, this job isn't for you. If you like wearing a company ID, this job isn't for you. If you like being micromanaged, this job isn't for you. We're looking for an aggressive salesperson who wants to take ownership of the position, who wants to grow with the company, and who wants to matter to us and to his or her clients. Do you need to be an expert in paving and concrete? No. We can teach you the technical aspects of the job and our support teams provide all the backup you'll need. What we can't teach you is the personal drive to excel; that you must bring yourself. We're not a company for everybody, we know that. That's intentional. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIdentify, pursue and land prospective customersMaintain relationships with current customersMeasure parking lots for all paving and pavement maintenance repairsSketch out parking lot (or use provided site plan) and identify repair areas and scope of workInput take-off quantities into ExcelPlan how each job will be built, determine labor and equipment hours, obtain material and subcontractor quotes Price job based on costs and potential profit marginDevelop detailed, written sales proposals including site plan and phasing schedule Conduct sales presentationsFollow up with all contacts and sales proposalsCommunicate with scheduling, field teams and the customer to schedule the jobManage each job, serving as the primary link between the company and the customerMeet with the crew on site at the start of each job and as necessary throughout the jobDiscuss technical aspects of paving and pavement maintenance options with customersMaintain regular contact with customers in advance of, during, and after a jobWork with office support staff to provide accurate and timely pricing, invoicing and appropriate information for each jobDevelop goals to help grow your customer base and the company's salesOperate as part of the sales team, supporting other team members as needed with workload issuesWillingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights or weekends Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Personal drive to excelIndependent, self-starterGoal-orientedAbility to prioritize Ability to oversee multiple jobs and interact with numerous customers simultaneouslyTop-notch sales skills - including the ability to find new customers and close salesStrong business writing skills for developing proposalsOutstanding customer service and communication skillsBasic computer skills (we use Word, Excel, a CRM, CorelDraw, Google Earth).Reasonable math skills and the ability to work with simple formulas for estimatingAbility to problem-solve and think on your feetPaving industry knowledge a plus (but not required) Why Work Here?You're looking for a unique place to live, you're looking for work in a noncorporate environment, you enjoy working independently, you enjoy the challenges sales offers, and you don't enjoy sitting in an office.
