Position Overview

The Desktop Support Technician I position is the first point of contact for Fremont Bank Associates seeking technical support for computer hardware and software. They serve as members of a team by providing technical support via phone and the Service Desk portal. Desktop Support Technician I staff is under the supervision of a Desktop Support Supervisor.

Desktop Support Technician I staff is also responsible for providing a consolidated point of contact for Fremont Bank Associates with technical support needs. Desktop Support Technician I staff are responsible for responding to service desk incidents in a timely manner, researching and resolving Tier 1 technical support issues, escalating more advanced issues to appropriate departments. Technical support issues may include: Resetting passwords, unlocking accounts, installing software, remote support, and troubleshooting complex technical problems. Desktop Support Technician I staff is to document all incidents with clear, concise explanations in a timely and accurate manner, and prioritize incidents based on their level of urgency. Desktop Support Technician I staff will also create knowledgebase articles to provide a better customer service experience to both departmental staff as well as internal clients.

The Desktop Support Technician I coverage would include on-call rotation during evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. The Desktop Support Technician I will also occasionally travel to other offices and locations in order to provide support as required.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Monitor and provide support to Tier 1 incoming support phone calls and emails to the Service Desk platform
  • Performs, installs, repairs and troubleshooting support for desktop PC's, software, banking applications, phones, tablets, other mobile devices, and printing
  • Creates documentation as needed for the department such as FAQs, procedures, etc.
  • Carries a bank-sponsored phone and responds as needed during business and non-business hours
  • Attends various meetings and participates in technology events
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned
    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate's degree in technical field or equivalent technology desktop support experience
    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in providing desktop support services to medium or large support environments required.
    • Technical certifications preferred, especially related to technical support
    • Valid current Driver's License for occasional travel to branch offices
    • Must have well developed interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to get along well with diverse personalities
    • Excellent customer service phone skills
    • Strong ability to monitor multiple support channels including phone, email, in-person and self-service portal incidents
    • Experience with network infrastructure; LAN, WAN, cabling, VOIP
    • Proficiency with Windows XP, Windows 7,Mac OS, iOS, messaging, and mobile phone technologies
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite installation and advanced use
    • Experience with printers, scanners, and multifunction device use and setup
    • Strong ability to work independently, follows written procedures, and meets deadlines
    • Knowledge of banking requirements and regulations a plus
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environment and virtual environments
    • Ability to maintain good working relationships with management and other employees
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Experience with BMC RemedyForce a plus
    • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Microsoft Certified System Analyst (MCSA) or A certification a plus
    • Experience with Banking Industry applications a plus
