Job Description Title: Production ManagerLocation: Hayward, CA PlantReports to: Director of OperationsPurpose:The Production Manager is responsible for leading all production/manufacturing activities in the facility on all shifts. Responsibilities include engaging people, driving safety culture and performance, and ensuring compliance with all internal and external quality requirements.Essential Duties & Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): Produce quality product that meets or exceeds food safety standards and specifications determined by the company or outside regulating agencies (FDA, USDA, or County Health Dept.). Ensure that production is at the required level and is scheduled to consistently meet both monthly reorder points and distribution point requirements. Maintain good employee morale, ensure positive and accurate communications and encourage progressive thinking from all employees. Track operational output measures (i.e., efficiency, raw material and product losses, product quality, inventory accuracy), anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of output targets. Responsible for assuring compliance with all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current BRCGS code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated Preventive Controls (HACCP/Food Safety Programs). Ensures compliance of OSHA regulations and corporate policies. Actively participate and support all Quality and Safety initiatives within the plant while engaging team members in these activities. Coordinate and aid Quality Assurance team in performing inspections on Products, Equipment and Facility. Organize production workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules. Effectively communicate daily/weekly/monthly objectives to supervisors and leads. Allocates labor to meet or exceed company standards and demands. Supervise production line supervision to ensure product is produced according to company specifications and meet production, usage, and labor objectives. Oversees the overall cleanliness of the plant production areas. Responsible for assuring workforce is properly trained per job requirements. Coordinate with Maintenance, Sanitation, Quality Assurance and Warehouse for preventative maintenance, repairs, employee training and operating procedures. Ensure employees are following all Food Safety and Worker Safety practices and assess disciplinary actions when needed. Identify issues in efficiency, suggests improvements, and actively participates with the implementation process. Monitors correct ingredient usage while maintaining quality objectives. Monitor and prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports. Other duties as assigned.Physical Demands Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Ability to withstand cold temperatures in the production and warehouse areas (65 F to 50 F). Additional demands may be required.Work Schedule Monday to Friday, from 6am to 3pm. In addition to normal business hours, work schedules may include after hours, and weekends as needed.Qualifications Minimum 3+ years' experience in a supervisory or managerial role. Minimum 5+ years' experience in Food Manufacturing under BRC Certification. Proven experience as a Production Manager role in the GFSI - BRC food manufacturing field. Strong analytical, observation, and coaching skills coupled with initiative to embrace change. Excellent oral and written communication and people skills. Strong knowledge in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Excellent time management, prioritization and presentation skills. Must be a team builder with strong organizational and leadership abilities. Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis, as well as a group. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
